The coastal walk from Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc
May 2, 2024Wine Tasting in the Costa Brava
May 14, 2024Since immersing myself in the Costa Brava, Platja d'Aro has become my temporary home base. I have been here for 3 weeks now and I am completely in my element. Platja d'Aro has it all; beautiful beaches, a vibrant center, delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere. And the big plus? I am staying with a local, which makes me feel part of the community.
The beach in Platja d'Aro
A boulevard of approximately 2 kilometers runs along the beach. I can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. I like to sit on the terrace of the boulevard, or regularly take a walk along the Cami de Ronda.
The center of Platja d'Aro
The center of Platja d’Aro has something for everyone, there are many shops where you can go shopping, there is a fairground for children and there are many places to eat and drink.
Nightlife in Platja d'Aro
That means dancing till the sun comes up! The town has a vibrant nightlife with clubs and bars to suit all tastes. I went out here 2 times now. Bar Charlies and Malibu are 2 places where I had a good time.
My favorite restaurants
For breakfast: Dulce Pikika
I had a delicious breakfast here last week. They have the most delicious bagels, as well as an extensive menu of fresh sandwiches and delicious smoothies.
For lunch: Aya Beach
I went here last week when it opened and was very impressed. It is a beautiful place with a Bali-like atmosphere and the food is delicious.
For dinner: Friends
This is a restaurant I used to come to as a kid and still go to weekly. The atmosphere is always cozy and the staff is super friendly.
For sports: Cactus
This is the place where I went to watch El Clásico (Real Madrid - FC Barcelona), where you can watch many other games.
My favorite activity
The Cami de Ronda, a long-distance trail along the coast. It is my absolute favorite in this region. The breathtaking views, idyllic coves and fresh sea air make every hike an unforgettable experience. Hike north to Sant Antoni de Calonge or south to s'Agaro and enjoy the beautiful trails along the rocky coastline of the Costa Brava.

After just a few minutes walking along the Cami de Ronda you will find beautiful bays like Cala del Pi, Cala Sa Cova or Platja Cala Cap Roig. Another reason for you to explore Cami de Ronda.
Platja d'Aro has so much more to offer than just sun and beach. The beautiful nature, the charming center and the hospitable locals make this place a real pearl of the Costa Brava. Come and see for yourself!
